Why Prenatal and Restorative Yoga?
Pregnancy, Weight Loss, Flu Recovery, and MoreMy name is Natalie Sapper. I’m a yoga teacher at Body Mind & Core. Currently, I teach Prenatal and Restorative yoga. Yoga has been a significant part of my life since 2012. When I first hit the mat, I was a single mom to THREE teenage boys. An hour alone on my mat; breathing and practicing the asanas, the poses, helped me in so many ways. I was able to relieve tension, deal with stress better, and grow stronger physically. In a nutshell, it was a major game changer for me. I know I will be practicing yoga for the rest of my life. I like to refer to yoga as the secret fountain of youth.
I teach prenatal yoga on Thursdays from 6:30p - 7:30p and Saturdays at 11:00a. It is my mission to create an environment for our mamas to feel safe and nourished. This time on their mat to breathe, move, and connect with their baby and other moms is so vital. There are so many benefits to a prenatal practice. Yoga helps reduce stress, tension, maternal anxiety, and helps with pregnancy related issues like back pain and sciatica. It improves mental focus, and increases strength and flexibility. The class is also beneficial if you are trying to get pregnant, promoting a healthy system for fertility and initial gestation. The feedback from our moms after they deliver has been so positive.
Restorative yoga to me is the “Golden Ticket” of a healthy life. It’s a chance to find balance, destress, and relax. It’s my goal in each class for students to open to the idea of allowing their parasympathetic nervous system to be activated. Every body can flourish from this class. Some of the physical benefits include lowering cortisol levels, reliving cold and flu symptoms and headaches, and helping reduce obesity. Some of the psychological benefits include mindfulness, a chance for stillness, reducing stress and tensions; bringing balance to your llfe. Come to class on Tuesdays from 7:00p - 8:00p and experience this incredible sense of relaxation for yourself.
